Pathways to Community Leadership is an introductory course to social justice, community organizing and leadership for high school students in grades 9-12.
Using film, guest speakers and field experiences from Hawaii and around the world, the course examines social issues and considers creative solutions to address complex problems of global poverty, economic, health and educational disparities.
A key feature of the course is learning to write a basic grant proposal and students will have the opportunity to compete in a grant competition and win an award for a Hawaii based nonprofit.
Most importantly, this course challenges students to explore their personal capacity to be agents of change.
